George Kittle Gets Breaded Up

Arguably one of the best tight ends in the NFL today, San Fransisco's George Kittle signed a massive contract extension this morning. The 49ers and Kittle have agreed to a 5-year, $75 million dollar deal, making him the highest-paid tight end in NFL history. As a former college tight end myself, I'm all about it! These guys deserve it becasue they can do it all. Tight ends are the ultimate hybrid....they run, they catch, and they can block. Let's go Kittle!

Kittle is getting $40 million guaranteed if he avoids injury and $30 million guaranteed at signing. The previous record deal for a TE was made earlier this year when the Browns signed Austin Hooper to a $42 million dollar deal. The amount of guaranteed money that Kittle will get surpasses more than twice the amount any other tight end is getting in the league right now. Not to mention, Kittle is getting an $18 million dollar signing bonus which is $12 million more than what Hooper received.

In 2019, Kittle was ranked the 7th best player in the NFL by his peers. Since being drafted from Iowa in the 2017 draft, Kittle has totaled 2,945 receiving yards which has surpassed every other tight end's total yards in the first three seasons in NFL history. Not only can Kittle catch, but he is one of the league's best blockers. Last year when the 49ers went two games without him, they averaged 2.63 yards per carry and 60.5 total rush yards. In the 14 other games with Kittle, San Fran averaged 4.83 yard per carry and 156 rushing yards per game.

Kittle has made the Pro Bowl the last two seasons and continues to ball. I'm excited to see what he does this season!
