Big Ben Is Back, And So Is My Hope

As a diehard Steeler's fan, I knew that Big Ben had surgery on his elbow last September. All of us though, were left in the dark as to what kind of surgery he had...until now. I speculated that he had Tommy-John surgery which is a typical surgery that MLB pitchers have to go through. TJ surgery is when the athlete tears the ulnar collateral ligament in their elbow and essentially cannot throw without severe pain and control. It turns out that he tore 3 GOD DAMN TENDONS! That's insane! In a recent EPSN article, Big Ben said that he's had elbow pain for years until one big throw to JuJu last year really did him in. On the play where Roethlisberger went down, Ben threw a bomb to JuJu Smith-Schuster against Seattle and immediately felt a sharp, radiating pain that went down his arm. Definitely not a good sign. He said it was a different pain that he has felt in his elbow before and ultimately needed season-ending surgery. So anyway the docs had to attach and anchor those three tendons back in place, and after a long ass recovery period, HE'S BACK!

The severity of the injury has never happened to the throwing arm of an elite quarterback such as Big Ben so I'm eager to see how he'll do this season. While talking to the media today, Roethlisberger said he's been throwing a lot more than usual and is feeling really good. Which, makes me feel really really good as well. Big Ben is looking amazing this year. He's lost a lot of weight, looks happier and healthier, and said that he feels 10 years younger. Hell yeah! If you guys don't remember he was looking like a mountain man over the past NFL season with a big ass beard and longer hair. The reason for that was he said he wasn't gonna get a haircut or shave until he was able to throw an NFL pass. Since he's been able to throw, Ben got done up and is looking clean. Oh man I'm so damn happy he's back. You guys probably don't understand, but all Steelers fans have an irrational love for Big Ben. I guess Chiefs feel the same way towards Mahomes or the way Pats fans felt towards Brady.

In other words, the Super Bowl's back on baby! HERE WE GO STEELERS HERE WE GO!
