Why Everyone Hates The Dallas Cowboys

We all have a team that we love to hate. It just so happens that the people of America can agree on that team being the Dallas Cowboys. A lot of people say they hate the Cowboys but can't pin point why. I'm about to shed a little light on why the good, football loving, people of America hate dem boyz.

1) America's Team

                - Dallas was dubbed "America's Team" by the narrator of their 1978 season highlight video. Since then, the name has stuck and other NFL teams have taken it as a sign of disrespect. Now, I get it as to why they were called that since they won the super bowl that year, but c'mon...."America's Team" is a little much dont ya think? Dallas has 5 super bowls titles, winning 2 in the 1970s and 3 more in the 1990s, but we are far from that time. Nowadays, the team just flat out stinks. If you guys want a personal take, I think the, "America's Team" nickname should be voted on each year by the fans before the super bowl and announced at the NFL Awards. This way, we can see who actually "America's Team" was and is over the entire season. Not a bad idea.

2) They Suck

                - Like I mentioned above, the Cowboys of the 21st century are GARBAGE. Since the year 2000, the Cowboys have had 6 losing seasons and 4 seasons where they went 8-8. They have been to the playoffs 7 times since then but haven't gotten past the divisional round since 1995 when they won the super bowl. Dallas is usually overrated every year and with their sense of entitlement, makes them an easy team to root against.

3) Jerry Jones

                - Jerry Jones might as well be the damn head coach since he's already the Owner, President, General Manager, and fan boy billionaire of the team. He is always in the cross-hairs of the media due to his poor football decision making skills. This guy needs to give the GM position to someone else if he wants the team to be successful. Stick to business Jerry, you simply can't do it all. Jerry Jones didn't start off on the right foot with Cowboys fans when he first purchased the team back in 1989. For example, the first move Jones made was to fire legendary coach, Tom Landry, immediately. Landry had been their almost 30 seasons and was beloved by the fan base. Although he did make up for it by winning 3 super bowls in the 90s, he's had a long drought of average seasons since then. This brings me to my next point of him keeping the team in a constant state of mediocrity. He doesn't let other people give him advice when making football decisions. The man wants complete control. Jones and Pats Owner, Robert Kraft, might be the two most disliked owners in the league.

4) Questionable Character

                - Now I know the league usually has to suspend a guy for violating the leagues substance abuse policy every now and then, but some former and current Cowboys players have done a lot more than that. Which makes me wonder if Jerry does his homework before bringing these guys to Dallas. Most recently, Ezekiel Elliott was suspended for violating the leagues personal conduct policy when he assaulted a woman. Before that, Gregg Hardy was suspended 10 games in 2015 for a domestic violence charge. In 2014, DT Josh Brent was suspended 10 games for violating the personal conduct policy and was later convicted of manslaughter. So yeeeeaaaah...not the greatest of dudes. In fact, the Cowboys have had at least one player get suspended each of the last 31 seasons. Let me say that again...the league has suspended a Cowboys player 31 seasons in a row. That's crazy!!

Finishing it up, I know the negative reputation clouds the positive aspects of this team but the Cowboys do have plenty of great guys and good football players. I feel bad for those guys who just enjoy playing football and do so in good character. Overall, I don't see America hating dem boyz any less.
